The Surgeon
Dr. Patrick McMenamin performed his surgical training at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore, Maryland. He has completed a Fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Additionally, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a Fellow and past President of the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery.
After serving in faculty positions at Johns Hopkins and the University of California, Davis, Medical Centers, Dr. McMenamin entered private practice in Sacramento in 1990. He is a national leader in the field of cosmetic surgery and is the 2009 President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS). The AACS is an international organization headquartered in Chicago and is the largest multispecialty organization in the world promoting patient safety and physician education. It is the only Academy devoted exclusively to the practice of cosmetic surgery. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society of Breast Surgery.
When out of the office, Dr. McMenamin’s passions are golf and fly fishing. He has taught sculpture at California State University, Sacramento, and has exhibited his work.
The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery
Since its formation in 1985, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery has grown to become the leading representative of practitioners of medical disciplines including dermatology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, general surgery, gynecology, and cosmetic dentistry. The AACS is the nation's largest organization representing and helping to train cosmetic surgeons.
The Academy's purpose is to maintain a membership of medical, surgical and maxillofacial professionals who participate in post-graduate medical education opportunities specifically in cosmetic surgery so that the public is assured of receiving consistently high quality medical care.
Dr. McMenamin has earned his certification from the American Board of Cosmetic Surgeons and is currently an examiner of other potential candidates. He has also served in many capacities in this distinguished organization, most recently as President.

The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was established in 1986 for the purpose of improving the quality of medical and surgical treatment available to the public by examining for professional expertise in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
To become certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, applicants must complete a two phased process by having their credentials verified as well as their training and experience. Then, they must additionally demonstrate their knowledge of the specialty by passing a rigorous written and oral examination.
